World Environmental Education Day

If we educate ourselves we have tools! To achieve real change, it is important that we work on creating awareness; which will only be possible if we learn about the issues that affect us.

Environmental Education is about showing people the problems that impact us, as well as the short, medium and long term consequences.

Educating ourselves on environmental issues allows us to get involved in changes and with them in solving the problems that we are having.

Environmental education is based on strategic components that we must all know:

  • Awareness

  • Sensitivity

  • Knowledge

  • Participation

  • Abilities

  • Attitudes

  • Understanding

It is important that during the education process, all the components are applied in order to ensure that the information reaches people in a timely and appropriate manner; and most importantly, that actions, changes and preventive measures are carried out that lead us to improvement and / or recovery.

Remember that awareness is achieved through sensitization, which generates an understanding of knowledge and with it the participation and adaptation of skills and attitudes.

To achieve a correct environmental education it is recommended to carry out an "Environmental Education Program". Do you know what are the steps to carry out a program?

As fundamental steps we can establish the following points:

  1. Know the status

  2. Identify needs for improvement

  3. To establish objectives

  4. Have the support of the organization for the execution of the program

Environmental programs are just one ingredient in the recipe for meeting established environmental goals.

Within the environmental programs, the issue of Environmental Education should be considered, to train staff and provide them with all the necessary tools.

What environmental issues are the most relevant in 2021?
There are endless topics that we can investigate; however, we are going to mark the Top 10:

  1. Climate emergency
