World Day for the Reduction of CO2 Emissions

"For large industries, the reduction of emissions is linked to the investment of new technologies, otherwise it implies a reduction in growth"

If we want to meet the goal of lowering the temperature by 1.5 ° C by 2050, we are late! Most of the technology used by countries is far from sustainable; If we want to reach the goal, large industries must focus on renewable energy sources, which implies a fairly large investment.

What are renewable energy sources?

They are those that are obtained from natural sources, which produce energy in an inexhaustible and indefinite way; being one of its most important aspects, that they do not produce greenhouse gases, so they do not have any negative impact on the environment.

Depending on the natural resources used for power generation, there are different sources of renewable energy:

  • Biomass (It is extracted from organic matter)

  • Wind (Obtained from the wind)

  • Geothermal (Refers to the heat energy contained inside the earth)

  • Seawater energy(Obtained from the tides)

  • Undimotriz energy(Obtained from waves)

  • Hydraulics (Obtained from water currents)

  • Solar (Obtained from the sun)

  • Bioethanol (Obtained from the fermentation process of vegetable products)

  • Biodiesel (Obtained from vegetable oils)

According to the UN initiative, every January 28 is celebrated the World Day for the Reduction of CO2 Emissions, to raise awareness about global warming, greenhouse gases and their consequences.

The reduction of CO2 emissions is directly linked to 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals:

-Goal 7:

Affordable and clean energy

-Goal 11:

Sustainable Cities and Communities

-Goal 13:

Climate action

What can we do to help?

Mutua Universal proposes 5 strategies in a very easy and practical way to achieve an effective contribution against the reduction of CO2 Emissions:

1. You consume, then you hit!

Eat foods that have been produced near your home.

2. Green I want you green

It focuses on the conservation of ecosystems, jungles, forests, oceans, etc.

3. Legs that I want them for!

Avoid using vehicles, walking short distances, or cycling. If the distances are far, use public transport.

4. Acquire a new "mantra"

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Reuse and Recover.

5. Say yes to energy efficiency

If you use heating, keep it at 21 ° C in winter, and if you use air conditioning, do not lower it below 26 ° C. Choose appliances with energy label A or higher and look for renewable energy.
