Lesson 5 - Home for Good
Reading
My name is Cooper. I was born in a pet shop. One day, a little boy came and took me home.
Jimmy was nice, but he had difficulty1 taking good care of me. I needed to go outside sometimes, but he didn’t know that. Therefore, I peed and pooed all over the house. Also, I enjoyed chewing shoes. Doing these things is natural2 for puppies, but Jimmy’s parents had different ideas.
One night, they drove me out of town and let me out of the car. I was excited about a late night walk. However, when I turned around, their car was driving away! I felt so alone3 and scared4. Weeks later, I was caught by two big guys. They took me to a “shelter5.” It was crowded6 with sick, smelly, and angry stray dogs.
I was terrified7 and had trouble8 sleeping for two days. At last, I fell asleep because I was so tired. When I awoke9, I saw a little girl with a smile like sunshine. Luckily, I was adopted10.
That was over a year ago. I still live with Katrina. She feeds me, takes me out for walks, and plays with me every day. Living with her is a blessing11. I hope my friends can find good homes, too.
