Nirali - Senior Student Leader
As a student at QPCS Sixth Form who is currently studying A-Level Economics, Sociology and Psychology, I have discovered more than just academics here. It may sound peculiar, but I have found a place where I feel challenged yet supported, and this combination has played a key role in making me the confident person I am today. The teachers go above and beyond to help us succeed and are always ready to offer guidance and encouragement. A personal example of this is when I commenced Sixth Form I was a quiet and shy individual but was encouraged to apply for the Senior Student Leader position, through tailored guidance I was successful and one of my roles included public speaking which I never have considered previously.
Not only does QPCS offer a variety of courses, they also offer countless opportunities to develop skills and confidence that are necessary in our next steps. We have weekly PSCHE lessons where we gain an insight into our future and how to better manage living in the wider world. Additionally, there’s a dedicated slot for extra-curricular and enrichment activities to develop our experiences whilst also allowing us to extend our key skills.
QPCS Sixth Form offer a designated Google Classroom dedicated to UCAS / Careers / Apprenticeship Opportunities. On a daily basis, teachers upload potential opportunities being made available presenting us the ability to engage in unique tasks that help gain an experience in a specific area.
Sixth Form here is more than just a school, it’s a community that supports and pushes each of us to succeed. I truly feel prepared for what comes next, and believe it’s an incredible place for students thrive and achieve their goals and lay great foundation for going into adulthood.
Riley - Senior Student Leader
Throughout my time at the school, I have been fortunate to experience the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a close-knit community. I have met so many new people since starting QPCS, even if you were to come here knowing nobody, everyone here is so friendly and because it’s such a large school, you are not limited at all for people to talk to or make friends with. In my opinion that’s the best thing about QPCS, the sense of community sets it apart from any other school you might be considering.
One of the things that I find makes the school so special is the dedication of the teachers. Over the years I’ve built great relationships with my teachers. They’ve always pushed me to do my best and they go above and beyond to help you succeed, both inside and outside the classroom. Teachers also give up their time to hold revision sessions before and after school and during half terms which provides some really useful time to ask about topics you may be struggling with.
The year teams and safeguarding team are always there to support you, whether you are struggling with a subject or just need someone to talk to. They don’t just focus on helping you pass exams; they care about your personal wellbeing and make sure you’re prepared for whatever comes next.
As well as being a Senior Student Leader I am also a student governor, I have had the privilege of giving back to the school in a more meaningful way. It’s been an incredible experience being able to contribute to the leadership team, help organise events, and mentor younger students. I have learned so much about leadership and teamwork, but more importantly, I’ve seen first-hand how much of a difference a strong school community makes.
As I reflect on my time here, from Year 7 to now, I can honestly say that this school has helped shape who I am today. It’s more than just a place to learn; it’s a place to grow, connect, and make lifelong friends and for that I am forever grateful.
