How will I be assessed?
Assessment for Year 1
Component 1: Personal Investigation: Practical work from your own ideas grounded in research demonstrating an ability to respond to others’ work and understand the context of your studies.
Component 2: Externally Set Assignment: You will explore and develop a theme provided by the exam board towards a sustained focus period of 10 hours controlled assessment in which you will create your final response to the theme.
Assessment for Year 2
Component 1: Personal Investigation: Part 1: From a personal starting point you submit supporting studies and personal outcomes. Part 2: A personal study consisting of 1000 – 3000 words
Component 2: Externally Set Assignment: In February the exam board releases a broad-based, thematic starting point which you will independently explore and develop during the preparatory period.
There will be a sustained focus period of 15 hours controlled assessment in which you will create your final response to the theme.
Where might it lead?
An A Level in Photography will be useful for further study and careers in photography, media and design. The visual communication skills you will develop will enable you to express your thoughts and ideas with confidence in an increasingly visual workplace. Future information will be visually sophisticated, as witnessed by the escalating range of media available to us thorough the many social media platforms that we all use.
