How will I be assessed?

Paper 1: Love Through the Ages - 3 hours 

Section A: Shakespeare. Write about a passage from Othello (extract on paper) and relate the extract to the wider play.

Section B: Respond to two unseen poems.

Section C: Compare prose (The Great Gatsby) to poetry AQA Anthology of Love Poetry through the Ages (Pre-1900)

40% of A level.

Paper 2: Texts in shared contexts: Modern Times: Literature from 1945 to the present day – 2hours 30 minutes.

Section A: Respond to one question on a core set text.

Section B: Answer one compulsory question on an unseen literary prose extract and one question comparing two texts studied.

Non-Examination Assessment A comparative critical study of two texts in the form of an extended essay. 20% of A level.

By taking A Level English Literature, you gain access to a plethora of courses and careers; law, journalism, media, communications, teaching, marketing and project management to name a few. Never mind all those high paying jobs in Technology and AI that need HR managers, Marketing directors and customer success managers.
