What will I study?
Year 12 Further Maths encompasses a content that includes:
Proof, Complex Numbers, Matrices, Advanced Algebra and Functions, Advanced Calculus, and Advanced Vectors.
Additionally, students may choose to study optional topics from Further Pure Mathematics, Further Statistics, Further Mechanics, or Decision Mathematics.
Year 13 will provide students with an advanced understanding of the material covered in Year 12, along with new topics. The content will include:
Proof, Complex Numbers, Matrices, Advanced Algebra and Functions, Extended Calculus, Additional Vectors, Polar Coordinates, Hyperbolic Functions, and Differential Equations. Students will also have the option to explore content from Further Pure Mathematics, Further Statistics, Further Mechanics, or Decision Mathematics.

1 hour and 30 minutes written examination

Where might it lead?
Further Mathematics A level is a requirement for entry to mathematics degrees at many of the more prestigious universities and will be advantageous for students considering studying physics or engineering. Further Maths is a fundamental skill that underpins a variety of specialist skills.
