The design process is vital when undertaking a design project. This process should allow for maximum creative decision making at all stages through the project and should lead to the best design solution for the brief.
We learned about some of the following during this process:
- fundamentals of letter construction
- different types of fonts
- treatment of lettering for expressive ends
- symbolism and imagery in history and present
- observational, analytical and design drawing
- photographing primary sources and using viewfinders to establish composition
- Colour schemes through gamut masks
- simplification of imagery to limited tones
- composition studies in shape and value
- manipulation of type for expressive ends
- integration of type and image
- reflection on and documentation of learning
