Art was a valued choice for me because of the improvement of the curriculum from primary school. I'm in first year and I've already learned many new techniques like hatching. All these skills will prepare you for a possible future in art and are always fun to learn. In one year I've made a finished wire sculpture and a fired clay pot. The best part is being able to choose what you want to make, whether it be a clay jug or a clay mushroom, the choice is yours.

This was my favourite project so far in art as it was the most independent one and it incorporated clay which was so fun and a big step up from primary school clay classes.
The subject wild was also very interesting for me as my approach thought me a lot about the wild found in culture for example the sacrifice in religion. Overall I enjoyed it thoroughly and am looking forward to next year

I learned how to design and create my pottery by using tools and my imagination to explore “the wild”. It did take a while to fully finish our sculptures and sketchpads (months). We also explored other peoples designs to take ideas. We created our plan by drawing primary sources. At the end we glazed our pots to make it have a nice colour effect.

As we have done pottery for a while now , our class got used to it.
But at first , it wasn’t easy.
In pottery , you have to have patience.
Make the best of it , because it’s your only piece and you wouldn’t want to make a mess of it.
If your piece is not turning out that well , try different techniques. Trying something new is not a bad idea.
When you do pottery , be open to advice because not everyones advice will be bad.
When you are applying your finishing touches to your pot , don’t just stop because your not bothered, stop when you think you pot looks the way you wanted it to look.
