Imaginative Composition versus Still life
One of the exercises undertaken in fifth year is the exploration of the imagined scene and the observed scene. Students begin with primary sources and develop complex and mature artworks over a number of weeks/months. These works must show evidence of the artistic process. Students engage with multiple materials and methods supporting their own original ideas with the researched work of others.
Craftwork
Craftwork at leaving cycle involves the creation of artefacts in response to a theme. There is an emphasis on process and skills unique to each craft. Some of the craftworks explored include Graphic Design, Batik, Block Print, Sculpture, Pottery, Puppetry, Calligraphy and book craft.
Drawing day
A trip where students explore their world together through drawing. The trip strengthens observational drawing skills and builds relationships.
Work during Covid-19 Lockdown
During our time digital learning, our students stepped up and got creative. While there was no access to the art studio during this period, fifth years were imaginative in their project work and use of materials.
