Due to the pandemic, it becomes harder to recognize people with their facemasks on. But now with the 'Selfie Facemask', you can wear your favorite selfies on your face. Now you won't be maskfishing!

This sanctuary project is a depiction of my childhood bedroom, it was my personal space where I would play, sleep, cry, or read. This bedroom is divided into three sections: the closet, the dresser, the bed.

The bed:

I was raised in a Catholic household and so religion was very present while growing up.

Before I went to sleep, my mother would come to my room and would pray with me. In this project, the rosary on the bed represents this memory. The scent components are: ashes, body, dirt, smoke, stone, light floral.

The dresser:

As a child, I enjoyed playing with toys and so I used to display my stuffed animals on top of my dresser. The scent components are: fruit, strawberries, apple juice, body, light floral, heavy floral.

The closet:

The closet with the door slightly opened in this project represents a vivid memory of hiding in my closet because of a few scenarios of domestic violence that took place. The closet felt like a safe space. The scent components are: body, ashes, fruit, heavy floral, smoke, dark woods.

Light shines through the childhood room and the viewer is immersed with light and is invited to create shadow puppets.

The sound is music box music which resembles a jewelry music box I had as a child.
