About SUPE ON THE MOVE
In 2025–26, Superintendent Ghysels will bring his office to school sites for one week at a time (Monday–Thursday), accompanied by his Executive Assistant, Lanita Villasenor, with Fridays at the District Office. This model reflects his commitment to accessibility, connection, and collaboration, keeping him engaged in district operations while fully immersed in each school community.
During each visit, Dr. Ghysels will:
Be visible and accessible to staff, students, and families
Visit classrooms and learning spaces
Attend school events, assemblies, and student activities
Join staff meetings and drop-in spaces
Observe day-to-day operations
Partner with school leaders to celebrate strengths and identify needs
Participate in scheduled events, including a safety drill (fire, earthquake, or lockdown), an AM PTA Coffee with the Superintendent, and an afternoon SUPE Listening Tour for all staff.
Thank you for your patience as we work through how to best support staff and families with drop off in the mornings. After we assign spots to staff, we will review the system to see where we can open up more spots as well as improve the flow of traffic.
We are grateful to Dr. Ghysels for seeing the need for a crossing guard in front of our school, approving funds for this, and getting us a crossing guard straight away. This has helped with traffic flow and safety.
Please consider alternatives to parking at school, including using our walking school bus (see maps with details). We have seen a LOT more families walking, which has greatly supported the efficiency of the morning drop off. Thank you!
Our attendance theme for August is Attend, Engage, Achieve! As part of our PUSD learning community, we ask all students and families to review the attendance pledge which has helpful tips for achieving positive attendance. Evidence shows that missing nine or fewer days per year has a significantly positive impact on students’ academic and social success from transitional kindergarten through high school. Every student and Every Day Counts. We’re here to partner and provide tools for success! Please communicate with us if you face any challenges. Valley View Attendance Line (925) 426-4230.
