Background Information:
Growth data measures the year-to-year improvement in students' assessment scores in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. These aggregate student growth scores can provide a picture of average growth for students within a school, local educational agency, or student groups within the Accountability system. The information presented on the Dashboard is for informational purposes only. Also, individual growth scores for students are not available.
To learn more about how growth is calculated, visit the CA Dept of Ed's website, here.
Overall, our Valley View 4th and 5th graders showed accelerated growth! This is incredibly exciting! We are so proud of our students, our entire staff, and our parent community. It takes all of us to support our kids to learn and grow!
When digging deeper into our data with the Equity Report by student group, we can review student groups by progress level (minimal, moderate, accelerated, and exceptional).
Minimal: NONE!
Moderate:
Students with Disabilities made moderate growth in both English Language Arts and Math.
Average:
Students who are Socioeconomically Disadvantaged made average growth in both subjects. English Learners, students who are Hispanic, and students who are Two or More Races made average growth in English Language Arts as well.
Accelerated:
English Learners, students who are Hispanic, students who are Two or More Races, and students who are White made accelerated growth in Math! Students who are White and students who are Asian also made accelerated growth in English Language Arts!
Exceptional: Students who are Asian made exceptional growth in Math!
Some student groups, such as African American, American Indian, Pacific Islander, Filipino, and Homeless, do not have a growth score indicated, as these categories have less than 11 students and the data is not displayed for privacy.
Our School Site Council reviews our equity data to create goals and strategies for our school in our School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Our current SPSA can be found here. We create goals around not only academics, but also around student and staff wellness, student support, professional development, and community involvement. Please join our next SSC meeting on January 22nd from 4-5 PM on Google Meet to give your input on our goals, interventions, strategies, and ideas!
Our school garden is almost ready for us to DIG IN!
