A process rooted in reflection and data analysis provides concrete evidence of achievement and informs future goal setting. As a learning coach, I set SMART Professional Practice Goals to hone both my own and my colleagues' instruction and student learning. The goal-setting process is cyclical: identifying needs/gaps (via baseline assessment), providing multiple and varied opportunities to demonstrate learning, and analyzing data to assess effectiveness and identify future goals.
For the past three years, I have worked with teacher to develop their skills in Google Apps for Education and other EdTech tools. This year I shifted the focus from skill-based to inquiry-based, encouraging teachers to redesign lessons that provide greater personalization and student agency. This also supports the work of the PSD Personalized Learning Taskforce.
During the 2015-2016 school year, my goal was work with at least one teacher in each department from either PHS or ACMS to modify or redesign a lesson, moving toward greater personalization and student agency. I will used the SAMR model to educate and support teachers in their efforts to stretch to levels of modification and redefinition. I created a rubric to evaluate lessons using the SAMR model and then worked with teachers to modify and redefine those lessons. These teachers were recognized as SAMRais in their departments and were encouraged to lead their peers toward similar lesson transformation.
Sample lessons are available in this folder.
I also continued to update and educate teachers and administrators on the connection between educational technology and educator effectiveness (my 2014-2015 goal) via the website I created with cloud-based tech tools and applications that support each of the twenty-two components of the Danielson Framework. I presented my work and received great feedback at SLATE 2015.
During the 2013-2014 as we rolled out the PSD Google Apps for Education Domain, my goal was to help PHS teachers become proficient with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Docs (2013-2014 SLO). With last year's goal accomplished (Data/Results), this year, I extended staff proficiency into more GAFE tools, including Google Sites and Google Classroom, and using advanced features such as Chrome Extensions and Add-ons to increase staff and student productivity and effectiveness.
My 2014-2015 goals was to focus on the connection between educational technology and educator effectiveness. I began by making connections between the ISTE Standards for Teachers and the Danielson Framework for Teaching to help educators recognize that authentic technology integration is "not just another thing" that they are being asked to do. I created a website to illustrate this connectivity and identified several free, cloud-based tech tools and applications that support each of the twenty-two components of the Danielson Framework. I shared the website with staff and administrators at PLE, ACMS, and PHS, as well as at Cardinal Stritch's Principals' Breakfast and new teacher induction class, SLATE, the Midwest Google Summit, and on DPI's #WIEE Twitter chat.
I have invited and received suggestions for teachers and administrators around the state.
