This week at The Petchey Academy
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you and all of our students enjoyed the summer holidays and had chance to have a break and spend time with your families. I am delighted to be stepping in to the role of Interim Principal at the Academy and welcoming you to this new academic year. The year ahead promises to be an exciting one, and one that I am thoroughly looking forward to.
Our vision at The Petchey Academy has always been to inspire and support every child to achieve the best possible outcome for each individual student. I remain entirely dedicated to this mission, and to ensuring that the academy is an inclusive, safe and happy learning environment where young people thrive. To help us to achieve this, your support as parents and carers is absolutely vital, along with attendance at Parents Evenings so we can discuss your child’s progress and ensure they are also thriving. All the details of important dates and term dates can be found on our website here.
Next week your child's Academic Tutor will be making a phone call home to introduce themselves. Students meet with their Academic Tutors each day and they should be your first point of contact at the academy. If you miss the call for any reason please do email us at mail@petcheyacademy.org.uk to let us know the best time and number to contact you on. You can also write messages to Tutors in your child's Student Planner.

Our uniform
Please note that Petchey branded hijabs or headscarves are no longer available, so girls may wear their own provided that they are plain black, simple and without embellishments or decoration.
Extra Curricular Clubs 2019-20
Students in years 7, 8 and 9 will be making their selections for clubs on Tuesday 10th Sept during the school day. All students in years 7 and 8 must select at least one club to participate in, for older year groups clubs are optional but highly recommended. Once they are allocated a space in a club, students must attend every week and notify staff if they cannot attend for any reason. Students will receive confirmation of their allocated club(s) by the end of the week.
Please note that students will be asked to select their top 3 choices, we will always try to ensure that students get their first choice but some clubs are extremely popular so it may not always be possible. The attached list may also be subject to change. Click the link on the right for the list of clubs on offer this term.

Every year we open our doors to prospective students and parents who are considering joining The Petchey Academy in year 7.
We would very much appreciate your help in making this year as successful as last year by helping to spread the word. Please tell friends and family who might be interested, or you can share the adverts on our social media pages. If you run a local business or are involved in a local community hub such as a church, youth club or college, please ask if you can display one of our posters and email jayne.nelson@petcheyacademy.org.uk so I can pop them in the post for you.
