This Week At The Petchey Academy

Dear Parents and Carers,

Whilst the rest of the country were casting their votes yesterday, our students were also voting in the Petchey Academy Mock Election 2019. All students from Years 7-10 came through our polling station to put a cross in the box next to the candidate they would vote for. There were no surprises in the final results as Labour won by a huge margin with 92% of the vote, mirroring the rest of the borough of Hackney, North and South. Liberal Democrats were runners up with 3.3% of the vote, the Conservatives - 2.2%, and the Green Party - 1.5%. Seminar and assembly topics this week have focussed on how our voting system works, party manifestos and the importance of democracy and making your voice heard.

The excitement is building as we near the Christmas holidays and it's lovely to see so many students wearing their Christmas jumpers today, we raised £145 for Save the Children. Christmas jumpers aside, students are expected to be smartly presented and wear the correct uniform every day. This includes wearing a tie, a dark coat (navy/black/dark green), only one stud in each ear, no nose studs, no trainers, and no false nails. Please click here to see our full uniform guidelines. Please support the academy by making sure your child has the correct uniform on every day and arrives on time ready for line up at 8.20am.

Have a great weekend.
