This Week At The Petchey Academy

Dear Parents and Carers,

Perfectly timed to coincide with Children's Mental Health Week, yesterday all students were off timetable for a day to focus on Living a Healthy Lifestyle. From Y7 to Y13 students discussed mental health, body image and self esteem, as well as what healthy relationships look like, how to eat well and even the importance of sleep. There was also a session on managing money and debt, and we were joined by teams from Brave the Rage, Young Hackney and Odd Eyes Theatre who performed their #Haters on knife crime and violence. Mr Janvrin who organised the RSE Day commended staff for making such an important day also really engaging: "It was inspiring to walk past so many rooms seeing sessions being delivered that were well-prepared full of energy, and engaging for our students. Anecdotally, the feedback from students has been very positive, and it was great to hear so many students feeding back that the most impactful sessions were those led by their own seminar tutors".

Don't forget that you can find lots of resources and information for parents on supporting your child with relationships & sex education at home on our website here as well as mental health, revision and online safety.

Next week, as we're almost at the start of half term, we're holding another drop in session for parents on Online Safety. Find out about how to help your child to manage their screen time during the holidays, and apps to look out for as a parent. Click on the button below for more information.

Please remember that if your child has an appointment during the school day, your child needs to bring in proof in the form of an appointment letter/card before the appointment date or on the day of the appointment. Thank you for your support.

Have a great weekend.
