Program Requirements
This page summarizes all the program requirements in EXITO DREAM. More information on some of the program requirements can be found in the appropriate subpage under "Trainee Information"
Communication
Reply to emails, invitations, and event announcements (e.g., RSVP) from EXITO staff within two business days, based on the time of email delivery and in accordance with the Portland State University calendar
Seek help by notifying EXITO faculty/staff promptly when any challenges arise which may compromise EXITO commitments
Complete all documentation requests by EXITO faculty/staff
Notify staff and faculty if I will be late or need to miss a scheduled meeting before the meeting is scheduled (except for emergencies)
Check the EXITO DREAM Google Site for required tasks, upcoming events, important communications, and other program information.
Enrollment & Academics
Intend to and enroll at PSU full-time enrollment (12 credit minimum) for Fall ‘23, Winter ‘24 * and Spring ‘24.
Inform EXITO DREAM ASAP if you are considering or planning to be below full time and we will work with you on a case-by-case basis.
You MUST be enrolled at PSU each term.
Maintain good academic standing at PSU.
Develop and maintain an academic plan that includes discipline requirements in collaboration with the EXITO DREAM Academic Advisor.
Carry reasonable course loads that prioritize my academics and my research,
Documentation
Complete all documentation requests by EXITO DREAM & CIMR
Meetings (DREAM & CIMR)
Attend all required DREAM and/or CIMR meetings.
Quarterly Progress Report
Submit the Quarterly Progress Report by 9/24/2023 (Summer 2023), 12/3/2023 (Fall 2023), 3/17/2024 (Winter 2024), 6/9/2024 (Spring 2024).
Timekeeping
Complete Timekeeping on the 15th of every month or on dates directed by EXITO DREAM staff.
Other
Complete necessary preliminary requirements in preparation for my research placement.
Strive to be an ambassador of the EXITO DREAM program and CIMR.
Maintain scientific integrity.
Adhere to the PSU Student Code of Conduct.
Balance off-campus and on-campus employment duties in order to prioritize my academics and my research.
Summer Program Requirements
Onboarding
Commit 10 hours to Trainee onboarding (July 11 & 13, 9:30am - 3:00pm) and complete required paperwork.
Induction & Immersion Workshops
Commit 50 hours to the scheduled workshops (Tu/Thus 10-12 p.m.; 7/11-9/24) or makeup work by September 24th (11:59 p.m.).
RLC Hours
Commit 250 hours to my Research Learning Community placement (7/11-9/24/2023).
CIMR Summer Research Symposium
Present an oral and poster presentation at the CIMR Symposium on Tuesday 9/19 and/or Thursday 9/21
Academic Year Program Requirements
Advising
Meet with DREAM EXITO’s Academic Advisor once per term.
Research Hours
Commit 100 hours per term to my research in my Research Learning Community placement without interruption.
Fall 2022: 9/25/2023-1/7/2024
Winter 2023: 4/8-3/31
Spring 2023: 4/1-6/30
