Program coordinator responsibilities vary among departments and specific assignments are negotiated with the department chair and approved by the Dean's Office. These responsibilities need to be delineated and agreed upon in writing on an annual basis. For reference, the following list represents some of the responsibilities that are commonly addressed by program coordinators:
Respond to RAS' requests to answer specialized or nuanced questions from prospective students as needed.
Review student admission files, coordinate course substitutions and transfer credits with faculty for program related courses, make entry decisions, and/or complete related paperwork in collaboration with Admissions Committees and/or RAS (as applicable)
Coordinate and facilitate program area curricular and policy revisions in collaboration with Department Chair and Associate Dean
Coordinate program area assessment utilizing TK20 in collaboration with the COE Data Coordinator and Director of Assessment and Accreditation
Prepare program reviews for appropriate accreditation agencies in collaboration COE Data Coordinator and Director of Assessment and Accreditation
Plan and execute new student orientation. Communicate with new students on orientation dates and expectations. Work with RAS to receive accurate lists of new students and contact information.
In collaboration with other program faculty and staff, respond to program student academic advising queries/concerns as needed
Collaborate with other PSU units and off-campus organizations to support programs
Assist department chair with faculty workload and scheduling classes
Assist department chair in identifying adjunct faculty members and university supervisors
Provide support and resources as needed to adjunct faculty and/or university supervisors in collaboration with Department Chair, Supervisor Coordinator(s), and/or Field Placement Office
In collaboration with RAS and the department, monitor/revise all program materials - printed and web-based.
In collaboration with RAS and the department, monitor enrollment trends and student retention.
