Aryakumari

Aryakumari has a wide experience in record restoration, preservation, and paper conservation across the government archives departments. While she worked with INTACH to train in restoration and conservation, she has also trained and worked with the National Archives of India and Indira Gandhi National Center of Art in the field of Archives and Record management.

With concrete plans being laid to establish the Archives, Avni began to approach conservators to review and advise on the collection. First to visit was Conservator and Archivist Aryakumari from Ahmedabad on 23rd and 24th January 2021.

She spent two days assessing the collection and recommending immediate preventive measures for the archival items.  Arya spent the first day learning about the history of the family, the papers, examining the condition of the papers, the types of inks used, advising Avni, and helping members about storage and handling of objects.

On the second day, she visited and examined the library collection of Sir Pattani, where some books were identified for conservation. Arya also shared nuances of record management and library books maintenance.
