Office records

This collection primarily comprises official records from the Diwan’s office and personal correspondence to and from Sir Prabhashankar Pattani and his sons, Anantrai Pattani and Batukrai Pattani, who were also the office bearers. The materials—dating from 1918 to 1950—are written in English and Gujarati.

Originally housed at Navo Bungalow (which served as Anantrai Pattani’s office and residence), the collection was relocated to a room at Sir Prabhashankar Pattani’s Samadhi site following the demolition of Navo Bungalow in the early 1990s. For ease of access, it was subsequently moved to the Gaushala within the Juno Bungalow premises and eventually stored in a wooden cupboard in one of the rooms at Juno Bungalow, Bhavnagar.

In February 2020, the collection was formally handed over by Kumar Pattani ( great grandson of Sir Prabhashankar Pattani to the Pattani Archives project, operating under the Sir Prabhashankar Pattani Open Window Charitable Trust. At the time of handover, the materials were found in cloth bundles marked “ Bhavnagar Durbar. On receipt of the objects, the team initiated basic preservation efforts  and preparation of a preliminary inventory of the collection with guidance from conservation mentor and consulting archivist. 

Prior to moving the collection to the newly established archives office, the entire collection  underwent non-toxic fumigation. Following the fumigation the objects were organised for long term preservation.

આ સંગ્રહમાં મુખ્યત્વે દિવાનના કાર્યાલયના સત્તાવાર રેકોર્ડ તથા સર પ્રભાશંકર પટ્ટણી અને તેમના પુત્રો, અનંતરાય પટ્ટણી અને બટુકરાય પટ્ટણી, કે જેઓ પદાધિકારી પણ હતા, એવા વ્યક્તિગત પત્રવ્યવહારનો સમાવેશ થાય છે. આ સામગ્રી - 1918 થી 1950 સમયગાળાના સુધીના છે, અંગ્રેજી અને ગુજરાતી ભાષામાં લખાયેલા  છે.

આ સંગ્રહ મૂળ નવો બંગલો (જે અનંતરાય પટ્ટણીના કાર્યાલય અને નિવાસસ્થાન તરીકે  હતો) ખાતે રાખવામાં આવ્યો હતો, જે 1990 ના દાયકાની શરૂઆતમાં નવો બંગલો તોડી પાડવામાં આવ્યા પછી, સર પ્રભાશંકર પટ્ટણીની સમાધિ સ્થળ પરના એક રૂમમાં ખસેડવામાં આવ્યો હતો. ત્યારબાદ જુનો બંગલો પરિસરના ગૌશાળામાં ખસેડવામાં આવ્યો અને આખરે ભાવનગરના જુનો બંગલોના એક રૂમમાં લાકડાના કબાટમાં સંગ્રહિત કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો.

ત્યારપછી ફેબ્રુઆરી 2020 માં, સંગ્રહ ઔપચારિક રીતે સર પ્રભાશંકર પટ્ટણી ઓપન વિન્ડો ચેરિટેબલ ટ્રસ્ટ હેઠળ કાર્યરત પટ્ટણી આર્કાઇવ્ઝ પ્રોજેક્ટને સોંપવામાં આવ્યો હતો. સોંપણી સમયે, આ સામગ્રી "ભાવનગર દરબાર" ચિહ્નિત કાપડના બંડલમાં મળી આવી હતી. આ સંગ્રહ મળ્યા પછી, પટ્ટણી આર્કાઇવ્ઝ ટીમે સંરક્ષણ માર્ગદર્શક અને કન્સલ્ટિંગ આર્કાઇવિસ્ટના માર્ગદર્શન હેઠળ મૂળભૂત જાળવણીના પ્રયાસો અને સંગ્રહની પ્રારંભિક યાદી તૈયાર કરવાનું શરૂ કર્યું

નવી આર્કાઇવ્સ ઓફિસની સ્થાપના પછી સંગ્રહમાં બે તબક્કાની  ફ્યુમીગેશનની પ્રક્રિયા કરવામાં આવી અને હાલમાં લાંબા ગાળાની જાળવણી સુનિશ્ચિત કરવા માટે સ્ટોરેજ બોક્સમાં ગોઠવવામાં આવેલા છે.
