Archival type-wise

When we first began, we started with what felt like a lakh papers—but as we’ve continued unfolding the layers of our collections, the sheer volume of materials across formats has gone beyond what we can fully comprehend. From handwritten letters and books to photographs, negatives, audio cassettes, and archival documents, the Pattani Archives hold a variety of materials, each carrying its own story.

As cataloging progresses, we’ll understand these numbers and nuances more clearly. For now, we share with you a preliminary list of the types of archival materials we’ve encountered so far. As our work progresses, we’ll be able to share more detailed insights into the size and scope of each type. જ્યારે અમે પહેલી વાર ડિસેમ્બર-2020 શરૂઆત કરી, ત્યારે અમે લગભગ એક લાખ કાગળો, થોડા ફોટોગ્રાફ્સ, નક્શાઓ, અને ઓફિસ રેકોર્ડ્સથી કરી- પરંતુ જેમ જેમ અમે અમારા સંગ્રહના સ્તરો ખોલવાનું ચાલુ રાખ્યું છે, તેમ તેમ વિવિધ ફોર્મેટમાં સામગ્રીનો જથ્થો અમારી કલ્પનાથી ઘણો આગળ વધી ગયો છે. હસ્તલિખિત પત્રો અને પુસ્તકોથી લઈને ફોટોગ્રાફ્સ, નેગેટીવ્સ, પેન્ટિંગ્સ,  અને આર્કાઇવલ દસ્તાવેજો સુધી, પટ્ટણી આર્કાઇવ્સમાં વિવિધ પ્રકારની સામગ્રી છે, દરેક તેની પોતાની વાર્તા ધરાવે છે. 

જેમ જેમ સૂચિકરણ આગળ વધશે, તેમ તેમ અમે આ સામગ્રીની સંખ્યાઓ, વિષયો તથા તેમની વિગતો વધુ સ્પષ્ટ રીતે સમજી શકીશું. હમણાં માટે, અમે અત્યાર સુધી મળેલા આર્કાઇવલ સામગ્રીના પ્રકારોની પ્રારંભિક સૂચિ તમારી સાથે શેર કરીએ છીએ. 

Our Collection includes:

1.Library Books
The personal library collection of Sir Pattani, with more than 6000 books that cover subjects ranging from Theosophy, Literature, Science, Philosophy, History, and Geography, etc. has books in English, Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit, and some in foreign languages too.

 2.Archival Documents
More than 1 lakh archival papers, including correspondences, official documents, reports, telegrams, newspaper clippings and administrative files from two generations i.e. from the time of Diwan Sir Prabhashankar Pattani as well as his sons Diwan Anantrai Pattani and Batukrai Pattani (who also assisted with administration in other princely states of Porbandar and Limbdi)

3.Photographic Collection
A vast collection of black & white and colour, photographs, and negatives, in varying sizes such as 70mm films, 35mm slides, and more, photographs found mounted, or in cardboard frames and several albums.   

3 a. Film and Media
Acetate and cellulose nitrate films, X-ray films, 8mm reels, LP records and vinyl records, and canisters.

3 b. Cameras and Equipment
A range of vintage cameras and recording devices.

4. Furniture
Different kinds of furniture, and even transport trunks used by the family members.

5. Artworks and Paintings
Original artworks, portraits, commissioned paintings and original frames, stamp blocks, sketches

6. Lifestyle objects 

Heirloom textiles, tapestry, pottery 

7. Maps

Historical and regional maps including those of ports and railways. 

8. Oral History Recordings

Accounts by family members, offering lived perspectives on personal and regional histories

  અમારી આર્કાઇવલ સામગ્રી :

1. લાયબ્રેરીના પુસ્તકો

સર પટ્ટણીના વ્યક્તિગત પુસ્તકાલય સંગ્રહમાં, થિયોસોફી, સાહિત્ય, વિજ્ઞાન, તત્વજ્ઞાન, ઇતિહાસ અને ભૂગોળ વગેરે વિષયોને આવરી લેતા 6000 થી વધુ પુસ્તકો છે, જેમાં અંગ્રેજી, ગુજરાતી, હિન્દી, સંસ્કૃત અને કેટલાક વિદેશી ભાષાઓના પણ પુસ્તકો છે.

2. વિવિધ આર્કાઇવલ દસ્તાવેજો

દિવાન સર પ્રભાશંકર પટ્ટણી તેમજ તેમના પુત્રો દિવાન અનંતરાય પટ્ટણી અને બટુકરાય પટ્ટણી( પોરબંદર અને લીંબડી જેવા અન્ય રજવાડાઓના વહીવટમાં પણ મદદ કરતા) ના સમયના બે પેઢીઓના પત્રવ્યવહારનો સમાવેશ થાય છે. સત્તાવાર દસ્તાવેજો, અહેવાલો, ટેલિગ્રામ, અખબારના ક્લિપિંગ્સ અને વહીવટી ફાઇલો સહિત 1 લાખથી વધુ આર્કાઇવલ કાગળો છે.

3. વિવિધ આર્કાઇવલ દસ્તાવેજો

એસિટેટ અને સેલ્યુલોઝ નાઈટ્રેટ ફિલ્મો, એક્સ-રે ફિલ્મો, 8mm રીલ્સ, LP રેકોર્ડ્સ અને વિનાઇલ રેકોર્ડ્સ તથા કેનિસ્ટરનો સમાવેશ થાય છે.

3 બ. કેમેરા અને સાધનો

પટ્ટણી આર્કાઇવ્ઝના સંગ્રહમાં ઘણાં બધા વિન્ટેજ કેમેરા અને રેકોર્ડિંગ ઉપકરણોના સાધનોનો સમાવેશ થાય છે.

4. ફર્નિચર

આર્કાઇવ્ઝના સંગ્રહમાં વિવિધ પ્રકારના ફર્નિચર,તથા પરિવારના સભ્યો દ્વારા પરિવહન ના સમયે ઉપયોગમાં લેવાતા ટ્રંકનો પણ સમાવેશ થાય છે 

5. કલાકૃતિઓ અને ફ્રેમ્સ

મૂળ કલાકૃતિઓ, પોટ્રેટ, કમિશન્ડ પેઇન્ટિંગ્સ અને મૂળ ફ્રેમ્સ, સ્ટેમ્પ બ્લોક્સ, સ્કેચ

6. જીવનશૈલીની વસ્તુઓ

વારસાગત કાપડ, માટીકામ

7. નકશા

બંદરો અને રેલ્વે સહિત ઐતિહાસિક અને પ્રાદેશિક નકશા.

8. મૌખિક ઇતિહાસ રેકોર્ડિંગ્સ

પટ્ટણી પરિવારના સભ્યો દ્વારા લખાયેલા લેખો, તેમની વ્યક્તિગત          અને  પ્રાદેશિક   ઇતિહાસ પર જીવંત દ્રષ્ટિકોણ પ્રદાન કરે છે.
