Week beginning - Monday 6th October 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
On Wednesday, we went on what turned out to be an incredibly successful trip to the Natural History Museum. For some children this was their first ever trip to London, and they loved it! Within groups, children saw: Mary Anning's ichthyosaur and plesiosaur; the statue of Charles Darwin; some of the actual finch specimens that Darwin studied and a room called 'Creepy Crawlies', which showed various ways that different insects and crustaceans live, eat, camouflage, stand out and fight. Many were also able to experience going on the escalator through the centre of the 'Earth' and seeing what it's like to be in a supermarket during an earthquake, in the earthquake simulator.
In maths, the children have received feedback on their assessments from last week, looking at how to correctly answer some of the questions where many of them had become stuck. They have also practised multiplying 4 digit numbers, by 2 digit numbers.
Through our inquiry, we have continued to research Mary Anning and learnt about fossils and the process of fossilisation. Continuing to improve our sketching skills in art, practising with Darwin's finches and Mary Anning's fossils.

Throughout our class trip this week, you showed a great deal of enthusiasm for learning more about fossils and the natural world. You worked well within your group and overcame your worries to have a fantastic day.
6S
This week, Ruby was a star thinker, and so reflective, when receiving feedback. She re-calculated as we explored new methods and showed a true dedication to improving her own knowledge and skills.
6B
On our class trip week, Isla had to face and overcome her fears. She demonstrated an open-minded and risk-taking attitude with great positivity and as a result is a fantastic role model to others.
