Week beginning - Monday 29th September 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
We have enjoyed another week in Year 1 jammed packed with wonderful learning. Last week concluded with Our Eurpoean Languages Day. We had lots of fun exploring breakfast from around the world, learning to count to ten in Mandarin Chinese and creating snakes to celebrate the year of the snake. We have continued to enjoy engaging with our core text 'The Lonely Beast.' We have used an array of adjectives to describe the beast and portrayed our creativity once again when we designed our own beasts. What wonderful imaginations the children have! Beast-themed chatter could be heard in the dinner hall and around the playground! Our growing maths skills were on show again this week. We introduced the children to part-whole models and used them to write addition number sentences. The children loved being active in their learning using beanbags, hoops and counters to create giant part-whole models! We went on an autumn walk around our school environment using our senses to discover different signs of autumn. We spotted golden leaves falling from the trees, eyed up numerous puddles to splash in and heard lots of birds chirping and tweeting up in the branches of the trees. We then used these autumnal discoveries to write sentences linked to our five senses.
