Week beginning - Monday 6th October 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week has been full of exciting Autumnal learning. Our line of inquiry centred around the idea that our action will be to give something back to those in the community that are less fortunate than ourselves. Therefore the children decided that they wanted to visit the local foodbank to take them food parcels which will happen next week in small groups. Baring that in mind the children wanted to write to you to ask you to help them with this action. You will receive a list of things that the children would like you to bring in to use in the food parcels (these are very simple things but if you would like to provide an alternative that is fine. The food bank will greatly appreciate sugar, tea bags, rice or tinned items). Please make sure these items are sent in to school on Monday 13th October. In order for the children to write a list they first needed to practise their writing skills by learning how to hold a pencil correctly, copying simple patterns, making their own writing patterns.
The children explored the sounds k and ck in phonics. They practised saying the sound, writing the sound and reading them in different words. Please do have a look in your child's reading record book to see how they are doing with their phonic knowledge. It's important that all children try to recognise as many sounds as they can to help them with their reading. Please do write a comment in your child's reading record so that we know how your child is getting on with the books at home.
In maths the children enjoyed reading the classic story 'Dear Zoo' to launch our learning on capacity. The children had a range of different sized boxes to fit the toy animals comfortably in to. Language like more, less, most, least and capacity was used to compare how much containers can hold.
Phoenix
Joel has been a curious learner this week. He has thrived in the outside area whether he has been building channels to transport water or creating imaginative structures using the construction materials. His love for practical hands on projects have shone through.
Goldings
Jasmin is a truly fierce, open-minded communicator! She has enthusiastically embraced learning about different communities and helping others. We can always count on Jasmin to work cooperatively and be a reliable helping hand to all her friends.

Grace has been so knowledgable this week in our maths, talking all about size and capacity! She loves to share her knowledge and supports other children with their learning. Grace is always helping me and demonstrates excellent tidying up and listening on the carpet. Well done Grace, keep up the good work.
