Mr Moore's News Update
Dear parents and carers,
I hope you have had a great week.
In school, we have had so many exciting learning experiences. With Florence Nightingale visiting us in Year 1 for a living history workshop, Year 6 travelled to the Natural History Museum and Year 5 baking bread alongside their inquiry into ancient civilisations. Such learning experiences are key in bringing our inquiries to life and ensuring they are immersive and engaging for all.
We hope to continue this trend next week when we welcome you to class open events. I am keen to open our doors more often to parents and carers so that you are better informed about current learning, progress and how you can support at home. We will continue to review homework, reading and home learning opportunities too. I thank parents who have provided me with valuable feedback. Such feedback allows me to refine what we do to improve the educational offer for your child(ren).
We have capped the week off with the PTA glow disco. We hope that the event was enjoyable and we thank you all for supporting the event and ultimately the fundraising efforts of the PTA. Funds will directly support us with our playground equipment moving forwards. I am sure the children will enjoy a greater variety of activities and equipment to enrich their break and lunchtimes.
Yours sincerely and have a fantastic weekend,
Mr Moore

Alfie
Alfie loves to fish and it really helps him relax. Look at the fish he caught recently and the excitement on his face. It is lovely to see you doing something you really enjoy Alfie!
Henry
Henry attended his 3rd Taekwondo grading last weekend and he passed! He has been promoted to 7th Kup (green stripe). What an amazing achievement Henry. Well done!
Stanley
Stanley has had a very full on day of tests and appointments, not only did he tackle the blood tests like a trooper, he did so well with the whole day and is managing his Cystic Fibrosis amazingly, staying as healthy as possible.
Well done Stanley! We are all very proud of you.
We were delighted to hear that we were awarded the chance for some PE equipment thanks to Wards of Kent and their 'Get Moving with Wards of Kent' promotion. The team from the Paddock Wood branch popped in to drop off all our goodies! Mr Blackhall was very excited to unpack all the boxes. I think we can guess what Mr Blackhall will be doing with his lunch break. Wards contribution is greatly appreciated and will help us continue to enhance the learning and provide valuable opportunities for our pupils. We are sincerely grateful for their support and commitment to our school community.
Harvest Festival
Over the past two weeks, our children have enjoyed celebrating the Harvest Festival with visits to St Andrew’s Church, where we joined together in song and listened to stories about gratitude and giving. It was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to reflect on the importance of sharing and supporting others. We are also incredibly proud of the generous food donations collected for the local food bank. Our House Captains took the items to the Community Storehouse, which provides essential support to families in the local area. A heartfelt thank you to all our families for your kindness and contributions—your generosity will make a real difference to those in need. Thank you.
As part of World Mental Health Day on the 10th October Leigh Academy Paddock Wood joined in with Young Minds #HelloYellow. The main aim of this is to raise awareness of young people's mental health and to show them they are not alone in any struggles they may have. What they feel matters. We spoke about what mental health is, how they can support their mental health and what makes them happy and feel positive. Mental health in our young people has never been so important.
Let’s check in with our children and let them know it’s ok, validate their feelings, thank them for sharing, let them know that you love them, ask them what you can do to help them and spend time together thinking about what’s making them feel this way.
We hope today has spread cheer, positivity and awareness of mental health.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE. WHAT YOU FEEL MATTERS.
SAY YES TO YELLOW!

#WakeUpWednesday is a campaign by the National Online Safety organisation. It's designed to help parents and carers stay informed about the latest online trends and platforms that their children might be using.
Every Wednesday, a new guide or resource is released, offering simple tips and advice on how to keep children safe online. These guides cover a range of topics, from popular apps and games to general online safety issues like cyberbullying and privacy. The goal is to start a conversation between adults and children about staying safe in the digital world.
We will upload these guides/resources here every week.
We're looking to spark awe and wonder in our children as we enrich our Forest School resources! 🌲🐛 To truly connect with and explore the natural world, we're asking for your help. If you have any natural treasures or resources that could inspire curiosity, we ask if you would please consider donating them. We'd be grateful for items like old nests (of any kind), abandoned wasp nests, a glass tray for safe bug observation (like butterflies or other small creatures), or any engaging books about nature and wildlife. Your contributions will help transform our outdoor learning space into a magical environment for discovery!
If you have anything you would like to donate please drop it off in the main reception.
Thank you very much. 🌳
