Week beginning - Monday 8th December 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
In Year 6 this week we have been very busy! Despite Christmas celebrations being in full swing, we have still managed to squeeze in some lessons! In maths, we have continued our focus on decimals, this week by adding and subtracting decimals and multiplying them by 10, 100 and 1000. Through our investigations of the Windrush generation, we have studied the Windrush scandal and the children are preparing to write newspaper articles reporting on it.
Reading bookmarks: this week, we have sent home small bookmarks which suggest a number of questions that you can ask your child when they are reading to you, which will help them develop their comprehension skills. These can be applied to any book, there are suggestions for fiction and non-fiction. For example, 'What does dissatisfied mean? Can you think of a synonym for it?'
If you have any questions, please ask your child's teacher.

Sophie has demonstrated that she is a brilliant inquirer and thinker, showing a strong understanding of the life and work of Carl Linnaeus and the classification system he created.

This week, Blake has shown a huge improvement in his behaviour for learning, meaning that he is silently reading (even when others are causing a distraction), he is raising his hand with answers and he is completing twice the amount of work he was previously. This will have a massive impact on his learning and allow him to acheive what we know he can!

Benji, your thoughtfulness and hard work after our shared Christmas lunch made tidying up so much easier. Thank you for this caring attitude.
