Week beginning - Monday 8th December 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
We have truly hit the festive season running this week! The classrooms are buzzing with excitement, and we have had a wonderful week of learning and rehearsals.
The excitement is at an all-time high regarding our upcoming Christmas performance. We held our full dress rehearsal this past Monday, and the children were absolutely brilliant. They have worked incredibly hard to learn their lines, perfect the songs, and remember their stage directions. Seeing it all come together in costume was a magical moment for the Year 2 team. We can confidently say that you are all in for a real treat next week! Thank you for your support with costumes and helping the children practice at home—it has clearly paid off.
In class, the children have really engaged with the history of significant individuals, and we used this inspiration to write acrostic poems. We have loved seeing the children's creativity shine through in their writing. It was particularly pleasing to watch them apply their GPaS skills so effectively within a creative context. They are becoming very confident writers!
2H met Miss Beamish who will be joining them as a student teacher alongside Mr Houghton in January. The children loved getting to know her, and there was a wonderful atmosphere in the classroom. They thoroughly enjoyed the activity she planned for them, and it was a fantastic way to start building that relationship before the New Year. We know she is very excited to join the team.
We hope you have a restful weekend before our final, busy week of term!
The Year 2 Team
We are delighted to share some exciting staffing news for Module 3. When we return in the New Year, we will be welcoming a new student teacher, Miss Beamish, to the Year 2 team. Miss Beamish will be based in 2H, working closely alongside Mr. Houghton. Currently Miss Beamish is based in another school within Leigh Academies Trust.
She is incredibly excited to join the school community and is looking forward to working with the children both in 2H and the wider school community supporting their learning journeys. We know you will all make her feel very welcome as she completes this important stage of her teacher training!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mr Houghton.
