Week beginning - Monday 10th November 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!Â
This week, Year 5 have started a new focus in Maths - fractions! The children have worked practically to explore equivalent fractions using numicon and bar models. We will be moving on to think about mixed numbers and improper fractions over the next few weeks. The children have also been working hard to create adverts for technology from the Industrial Revolution, using a range of persuasive language and techniques. We have been really impressed by how convincing they are!
During our inquiry, we have been focusing on the positiive and negative impacts of technology on both humans and the planet. The children have come up with some insightful contributions about the way that technology has enhanced our lives and the way that it can be damaging. This concluded with a debate on Friday. We have also worked hard to produce some beautiful watercolour paintings depicting the industrial revolution. We had lots of disucssions about the colours and shapes that we chose to include, and the impact that this had on their artwork.

This week you have demonstrated the principles of being open-minded and knowledgeable when approaching all of your learning tasks. I have been particularly impressed with your answers during reading and your contributions to our discussions about how technology has changed over time.

For your thoughtful and entertaining persuasive advert for a steam locomotive. You used the different persuasive features taught in lesson and showed a great awareness of your audience. Nice one Kaden.
