Week beginning - Monday 3rd November 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
It has been wonderful welcoming the children back to school after the half-term. The children have began their new inquiry, displaying wonderful enthusiasm and a love for learning. In Phonics, the children were excited to begin learning about split digraphs. We have been focussing on the i-e sound reading words including bike, shine and outside. In maths, we have been very busy adding by counting on. We have been jumping on number lines to solve a variety of addition problems. Humpty Dumpty has been popping up on numerous occasions across our inquiry learning this week. We have used the traditional nursery rhyme to learn about rhyme and performance, but we also used it to help us investigate everyday materials. We each made a protective cover for Humpty Dumpty using an array of everyday materials. We then tested which everyday material was best by wrapping it around an egg and letting it 'fall off the wall.' There were lots of shrieks and excitement as we tested our protective covers and discovered which material was best. We were excited on Thursday when the children in Year Three came to visit us and teach us all about their inquiry. They have been learning about different people's roles in emergencies. The children loved asking questions and learning from the Year Three pupils. There was a wonderful buzz around the area as they engaged in these discussions and discoveries.
