Week beginning - Monday 10th November 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week we have continued with our new phonics unit and we have learnt the sounds d and g. The children are working really hard on their blending and segmenting and we can't express enough how important it is to read the children's reading books with them at home. Please record this in your child's reading record so we know which books they have been reading at home. Please also remember to look inside your child's reading record book to find out which sounds your child knows and which sounds they need to work on.
In Inquiry this week, we have been learning about the celebration of bonfire night and fireworks and how to keep safe during this time. We also looked at the reason why we celebrate bonfire night by learning about the gunpowder plot. Thank you for all the wonderful photos that have been sent in, the children have loved sharing them with their peers. This really does encourage the children to use their communication skills to talk about something that they are really excited about.
In Maths, we have been practising how to represent and subitise 1,2,3. We have been consolidating our understanding of composition of numbers 1,2 and 3 for example 3 is made of 1 and 2. Ask your children to make these numbers on their fingers at home. Can they show you different ways to make a number and explain how they have done it? Finally we finished the week learning how to find one more and one less than a number to 5. Remember the White Rose 1-Minute Maths App is perfect for supporting these concepts at home.
Practising our fine motor skills and letter formation.
Sharing our firework photos with our friends.
We can subitise 1,2 and 3.
Creating fireworks using chalk.
