Who qualifies as a student teacher?

Per the CTC, student teaching refers to time spent in the classroom with a cooperating or mentor teacher, and includes, but is not limited to, coplanning, coteaching, guided teaching, and solo teaching. Service on an intern credential does not qualify as student teaching.

How do student teachers who are placed in OUSD access the $10,000 stipend from the state?

Your IHE will begin an application for you on the CTC portal. OUSD will complete the application and will pay you the funds once released from the state. 

Once placement is confirmed, how do student teachers get onboarded for their placement in OUSD?

Student teachers will be onboarded as substitutes within the system. Once we confirm your placement, our Talent team will reach out to begin this process.
