Peer Observation
Peer Observation
We provide three ways in which new teachers can engage in peer observation throughout the school year.
Learning Labs: Peer Observation Release Days
This is an off campus opportunity for new teachers to observe multiple veteran teachers in action in their classroom. In community with other new educators in the district, you will focus your observations and debriefs on elements of strong classroom culture, student talk, or evidence of strong lesson planning.

Substitute Coverage
In addition to the sub coverage for OUSD's new teacher PD release days, we have a budget to provide new teachers with up to two release days per year to support your professional learning and growth. Teachers can use this resource when attending one of NTSD's organized Learning Labs or at any time to participate in a peer observation day that you coordinate separately. Learn more here.
The Teaching Channel
Through a multi-year partnership, every OUSD educator has a FREE subscription to The Teaching Channel. Teachers, school leaders, and central leaders can access thousands of videos of classroom practice, including scores of examples from classrooms across OUSD. Learn more here.
