Welcome to the Design & Technology Department

The Design & Technology Department at Dumbarton Academy is dedicated to fostering creativity, innovation, and practical problem-solving skills. We provide students with the opportunity to explore how design and technology intersect to create solutions that shape the world around us.

Through hands-on projects, students explore a range of topics, including product design, engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. They are encouraged to design, prototype, and refine their ideas while developing key skills in critical thinking, technical drawing, and using modern tools and technologies.

In Design & Technology, students apply their creativity to real-world challenges, learning how to transform ideas into tangible products. Whether it's designing a sustainable product, developing an innovative piece of technology, or understanding the impact of design on society, we aim to equip learners with the skills they need for careers in engineering, architecture, product development, and beyond.
