Geography at Dumbarton Academy inspires students to explore the world around them—both near and far. Our department helps young people develop a deep understanding of the natural and human environments, as well as the complex challenges facing our planet today.
Through engaging and thought-provoking lessons, students investigate topics such as climate change, natural disasters, global development, population, and urbanisation. They build key skills in map reading, data interpretation, critical thinking, and decision-making.
We encourage learners to make connections between local and global issues, understand their role as global citizens, and consider how they can contribute to a more sustainable future. Fieldwork and interactive learning experiences are a key part of our approach.
Geography at Dumbarton Academy is not just about learning facts—it’s about developing a lifelong curiosity for the world and preparing students to understand and shape it.
