At Dumbarton Academy, our Maths department is committed to helping every young person enjoy success in mathematics. We aim to build confidence, develop essential numeracy skills, and equip learners with the knowledge they need for life beyond school. Whether solving everyday problems or exploring advanced concepts, our goal is to make maths meaningful, challenging, and rewarding for all.
Vision
The department’s vision is that all young people have a positive and successful experience in maths and that they leave with the skills required to be successful in life.
Broad General Education (BGE: S1–S3)
Students explore key areas including:
Number, money, and measure (fractions, time, money, etc.)
Shape, position, and movement (geometry, angles, symmetry)
Information handling (data, probability)
All students experience these at appropriate levels.
