Emerson North Alternative High School provides a safe, nurturing environment for at-risk high school students or those who have not had success in a traditional setting. Grades 9 through 12, qualify for an alternative education program. Emerson North also houses an onsite childcare, free of charge, for students with a child, or children, ages birth to 4 years of age. A referral is required from the student’s OKCPS home school or the office of Homeless Educational Services. Students enter the program who fit into one or more of these categories:

Emerson South Mid-High School serves students in grades 9 through 12 and addresses the needs of students who have found they struggle academically because of outside influences and issues. Students are able to stabilize themselves and their lives with the support of teachers and staff along with the programs available to them. Emerson South also addresses the needs of the middle school students who are referred for academic difficulties and character education. This 45 day program allows students to return to their homeschool with the necessary skills to be successful.

Putnam Heights Academy

Putnam Heights Academy is an alternative school that helps students realize their value. It assists in leading them to their purpose and achieving their goals.


The S.W.A.G. Program 

The SWAG (Students With A Goal) Program provides a safe, nurturing environment for high school students, grades 9 through 12, who live within the boundaries of OKCPS and have been recommended by the judicial system to attend an Alternative School. This program is offered at all three Alternative sites.


B.R.I.D.G.E.S. Program

The Building Resources and Interventions Devoted to Graduating Students Equipped for Success (BRIDGES) Program serves 9th-12th grade students who have previously stayed in a residential, inpatient, day treatment, juvenile facility, jail, or are in a homebound setting prior to returning to their neighborhood school. This transitional period targets the social, behavioral, economic, and learning gaps that many OKCPS students face. Through identifying barriers and offering individual support plans,students are able to achieve positive outcomes once they return to a traditional school setting.
