Searching for history resources by decade can be challenging. Here are some key words to try in your Google searches. Try mixing and matching and adding descriptive terms to get to what you want.


  • post war Canada baby boomers Cold War Canada

  • Nineties, Eighties, Seventies, Sixties, Fifties – spell the decade out for better results

  • Canadian-American relations - can add “since WWII”

  • Add descriptor to the decade – eg. 1990s music, 1970s politics, 1960s art, 1980s fashion
