Congratulations to all who took part in this year's OAME2026 Annual Mathematics Conference - it was a great time in London for those who were there, and wonderful to connect with online participants through the virtual sessions - lots of learning, collaboration, celebrating the math community, and yes, lots of talking about Mathematics!
A HUGE thanks to the team that put together this conference at Fanshawe College, Wayne, Margaret and Avi and all the committee chairs and team members. A reminder that in-person registrants will have access to the recordings of four of the featured speakers until the end of June; Virtual Conference participants will have access to the full complement of their virtual sessions through June 30.
Join keynote speakers Dr. Kristopher J. Childs and Dr. Marian Small at OAME2027 for an inspiring journey into the power of storytelling in mathematics under the theme “Mathematics Through Stories: Cultivating Courage, Curiosity & Connection.” The 2027 conference encourages educators to envision mathematics as a story‑driven learning experience—one that inspires courage, ignites curiosity, and nurtures meaningful connections in the classroom. This year's conference will be virtual.
Don’t miss this opportunity to explore how storytelling can reshape math education and empower every learner. Come be part of the story—and help us write the next chapter of mathematics education together.
Save the date! April 27-30, 2027

VisualEQ is a virtual reality math learning aid that Grade 12 student Odin Worsley has been developing the past year. He was displaying his project at the OAME2026 conference in London and had many teachers try out the virtual experience with a Quest3 headset. His goal is to help students prepare for Grade 6 EQAO math in a (virtual) hands-on environment to support each type of learning with manipulates in a virtual space. For more information, you can reach out to Odin at his email.
Seven Ontario French-language students from Équipe Francobotique, a FIRST LEGO League community team, created ArchéoMath to make math more engaging through archaeology. After studying 78 archaeology books and the Grade 1–8 Ontario math curriculum, the students developed a Grade 4 prototype crate with seven hands-on activity boxes connected to ancient civilizations. These activities help students explore mathematical concepts like patterns, angles, area, symmetry, coordinates, fractions, decimals, operations, remainders, and coding.
Field-tested successfully in classrooms across three school boards, ArchéoMath was developed with input from archaeology and math experts and the Ontario Archaeological Society. OAME members can enter a raffle to win free sample boxes: https://forms.gle/vsCnhUshCMrM9qMT6
Add your prompts any way you want!
chatOAME will let you type your prompt, of course, in the middle box. But you can upload files, take pictures with your device, take a screenshot from your device, use ink / handwriting or use the microphone (the latter two will ask for permission from your device).
