On May 8-9th, 1000 educators came together at the OAME 2025 conference at Ontario Tech University in Oshawa with a common goal: to learn, share and celebrate mathematics education. We experienced motivational keynotes from Valerie Camille-Jones, who focused on math esteem and left us feeling energized for the rest of the conference, and Nat Banting, who forced us to rethink what we consider as “basics” in mathematics. Featured speakers Jo Boaler, Vanessa Vakharia, Robert Durocher, Jason To, and Lisa Lunney-Borden offered informative and inspirational sessions. Over 200 other educators chose to share their own expertise through presenting sessions at the conference. Thank you to the organizing committee made up of members of PRMA (Pine Ridge Math Association) and ISOMA (Independent Schools of Ontario Mathematics Association) along with Gina Micomonaco, Judy Mendgalio and Lynda Ferneyhough. The conference was truly a reflection of an incredible amount of dedication, hard work and patience. Thank you to our generous sponsors who made this event possible. And thank you to all educators who joined us for the two days of professional learning. We are looking forward to seeing many of you again at OAME2026 in London next year.
Were you unable to attend the in-person conference? Consider registering for the virtual conference on MCIS which includes recordings of our keynote and featured speaker sessions along with a selection of other pre-recorded sessions. Registration for the virtual conference will close at end of June; videos will be available for viewing through Bastille Day.
