Staring tomorrow (Wednesday) night!
We'll arrive together at the Ontario Tech University for two days of mathematics and education. You can still register on-site for both days or just one day of the conference. Our committee and our presenters have put a lot of work into ensuring that this is a successful learning experience, and a chance to connect with mathematics educators from around the province (and country).
We hope participants will share their learning via social media, including our Facebook and LinkedIn groups -- use hashtag #OAME2025 on your favourite social media site.
For more information, check out our website at https://oame2025.ca
OAME2025 will have recordings of the 10 Keynotes and Featured Presenters (Dr. Valerie Camille-Jones, Nat Banting, Dr. Jo Boaler, Robert Durocher, Vanessa Vakharia, Dr. Lisa Lunney Borden and Jason To) as well as over 20 other presentations that will be held at the conference. You can see the full list of virtual sessions here: https://bit.ly/oame2025virtual and registration is at our Conference Registration Site at https://mcis.oame.on.ca

As always, if you get approval from the Gazette Editor then the OAME/AOEM will pay for a book if you provide an approved review and receipts within a year of the approval. A guide for writing reviews is available. The book is yours to keep (or pass on to colleagues) and you get to see yourself in print! Approval is quick and easy by emailing gazette@oame.on.ca
No, it can't be John Grisham... it has to be about mathematics and/or education :)
The Gazette list of reviewers is open to new reviewers -- like you! If you would like to be added to the reviewer list please identify which of the following you feel suit your capabilities: pre-K and K, PJ, JI, High School, College, University, Pre-Service, French, or Other (Please clarify). We will contact you when an article needs review. There is no obligation, but if you do offer to review then we ask for a form to be filled out and the review to be completed within two weeks.
Please email your interest to gazette@oame.on.ca

The York Region Mathematics Association (Y4MA) recently hosted the 2025 Intermediate Math Olympics — a spirited celebration of mathematical thinking and collaboration for Grade 7 and 8 students. Held on Thursday, April 10 at Thornhill Secondary School, the event brought together school teams from across York Region to engage in a series of rich and challenging math problems.
Teams, consisting of two Grade 7 and two Grade 8 students, rotated through individual, pair, and group problem-solving rounds, showcasing not only their mathematical reasoning but also their communication, perseverance, and teamwork.
From 3:45 to 8:00 p.m., the school buzzed with energy, excitement, and the unmistakable sound of students thinking deeply and working together — a true testament to the power of engaging math experiences outside the classroom.
Y4MA thanks all participating schools for their enthusiasm and looks forward to continuing this tradition of celebrating student achievement in mathematics.
