Information on Advisory


Course Description and Objectives:

This class aims to connect young people to an adult who will provide assistance in the areas of academics, guidance, and support. Through this course, students will learn about school community expectations, student involvement, school spirit, emotional intelligence, college and career choices.


This course is designed to help students build their self-esteem, confidence and community. Students will learn the following:


  • The OSA Way - Value, Uplift, & Honor

  • To work in small groups.

  • To advocate for themselves.

  • To explore how students can be of service to their community using their natural gifts

  • To provide space for students to collaborate as a means of building community.

  • About emotional intelligence & how to develop good decision making skills.


Students will learn that their voice is important and valued as a student at OSA. They will begin to understand how restorative justice is a useful tool when building community. The course is designed to meet the needs of the students who attend OSA.
