Midterm VR Project
Idea 1 (definitely subject to change) Find the Oculus!
For my midterm project, I want to put to use the skills I have learned so far in this class and in Unity to use. I want to use 3D models, 360-degree images, objects, imported packages, characters, movements, sounds, and so on… . I also want my project to have some sort of personal touch and connection to me.
So, I have decided to create a campus-based project. The experience will be an exploration, where the user, using the first-person controller, will go through the scenes I have created in search of a specific thing.
In this case, the story is that an Oculus Headset has gone missing, and the user has to look for it in the three scenes I have created. I will attempt to make some of the objects in the scenes intractable. One of the obstacles I will create is putting characters who are “lab assistants”, and who will “bust” the user if they run into them, hence, they will “lose” temporarily.

Name: Cole Comment: Really cool concept! I like the connection to campus. Using real scanned assets might make the game easier to make which is a great idea. One problem with the 360 skyboxes in enclosed spaces are you can't move within them so keep that in mind.

Comment: I like this!! It's a light, chill, and fun concept. It might be a bit tough to do all the mechanics, especially with the lab assistants being autonomous and non-glitchy with all the objects in each scene, but I think you can do it! Super excited to find my Oculus in your game :D
Idea 2: Homes
Name: Shaikha Comment: Im so excited to see the result of this idea! i think its super cool that your leaning into the gaming aspect of unity scene creation, and using something people are familiar with (campus) to create a realistic yet high-stakes atmosphere. the lab assistants idea makes so much sense within the context and would create a feeling of suspense for the users. I think making 360 images of campus and 3d objects out of common things would be really helpful since theyre available.
Meera:
This project seems very fun to make, it's relatable and chill. i love it !
Yoki: The campus-based context sounds really intriguing. I am not sure if we’ll export our unity work into the headsets for the midterm but it would be so fun and amusing to find an oculus while wearing one.
Phillip: I love the idea of recreating a familiar environment in VR and playing a mini game in it! However, to strike a balance between realistic and artistic scenes is gonna be a tricky part. Anyways, it would be super fun to model real-life objects into the game.
Theyab : The project is really simple yet exciting to know the outcome of how it will look like !
Aakarsh: seems very fun! Would be really interesting as a mobile game for sure
Wendy: I appreciate the path of visiting in the storyboard. Looking forward to the interactions in the game!
Jiapei: It's very interesting to have this simple, campus-based theme. I wonder what kind of aesthetic you are trying to have. Because based on your storyboard, I think it would be very cute and interesting if it is a bit cartoonish look :) Looking forward to your final work!
Douglas: This is such an amazing idea. I've always wanted to create a treasure hunting game in VR, and I am pretty sure you will be able to present us with a fantastic final work.
Oliver: It will be interesting to develope to a VR project. Players can look for their Oculus by wearing a headset (maybe also Oculus) to enter the game. I think the level design may be challenging and I am looking forward to play it!
