The snow has started flying. Please dig out all those warm clothes needed for our Iowa winter ahead. Please reach out to a staff member if you need assistance obtaining a coat, snow pants, boots, hat, or mittens/gloves.

There are many aspects of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This includes defining, teaching, and reteaching what Respectful, Responsible, and Safe choices look like all throughout the school. We call these our Bison Expectations.
Staff acknowledges positive behaviors through the implementation of gem jars (each good choice a gem is placed in the jar), class and school rewards for filling their jars, and Bison Spotlight Students of the Month to name a few. As a school, students just filled their 25th jar of gems. On Tuesday, November 22 the entire elementary has earned a Pajama Day! Next, they are working toward earning a Bingo Party.
One other area is the confidential documentation of behaviors and using the data to improve processes. We have already been documenting these behaviors but we are now going to send the Discipline Report form home, as needed, in an effort to partner with families and improve home-to-school communication.
