More information regarding the show and its characters can be found below!
Singing Auditions
Please prepare one of the provided audition cuts found in this folder. Inside the folder, you will find sheet music for the audition cut, as well as the tracks we'll be using for the auditions. There are song cuts for 8 roles, and one for the Ensemble. Choosing a character will help us know where you'd like to be considered, but everyone will be considered for all roles. If you do not want to be one of the main 8 roles, please prepare the ensemble cut.
Sign up in groups of 10 for 15-minute slots. We'll bring you in one at a time, but this eliminates wait time. So the first ten would be expected to be there by 5:30, numbers 11-20 by 4:45, etc. We will have a speaker there and will run tracks.
Dance Auditions
Everyone dances from 7-8
Callbacks
Any callbacks will immediately follow the dance audition. Those asked to stay and read will be reading from the sides found in this folder. We will have copies available to you, but I recommend looking over the scenes ahead of time. We will let you know at the start of the dance call if you will be needed for any additional callbacks.
Please note that we are happy to do our best to work around other activities, and it is very possible to do that for the ensemble in this show. Those cast as Gomez, Morticia, Fester, Wednesday, and Lucas especially will need to have more availability. Please fill out the conflicts portion as thoroughly and honestly as possible.
Audition Tips
The audition starts when you walk in!
Part of the audition is how you follow directions, interact with peers and adults, and your participation. Talent doesn't matter if you can't work on a team or be respectful during other people's auditions.
Practice your introduction just as much as your audition.
Wait to introduce yourself until you've stopped walking and have planted your feet
Clearly tell us your first and last name, and either the title of the song you'll be singing, or the character you are singing for
The importance of the "moment before."
The moment after your introduction into the song is a powerful moment for you as the actor.
It's helpful if it involves a physical change (weight shift) and a focus change.
Your character should start at the intro of the song, not when the lyric begins.
Where should I look?
When you're introducing yourself, you can look at the team behind the table.
Once you shift into the character for the song, find a specific spot to look at that is just above the heads of the team.
Plan where you're going to look and what you're going to do in the audition.
Think about what the character is like - and how they're feeling. (The music will help you out!)
How can you convey this with not only your voice, but also your body and face?
When your movements become second nature, they can be a comfort to you when your nerves start to try to interfere, plus they help serve as a sort of muscle memory that will make it less likely for you to forget your lyrics
Practice your audition WAY more than you think you should.
Nailing the audition in your room is way different than in front of strangers. You want to feel ultra confident and prepared.
Practice in front of your family and friends so you can see what it's like to have an audience.
Remember that your audition is a way of showing the staff how seriously you'll take this responsibility, and how hard you'll work to prepare for the show.
Finish your audition song with a focus shift back to the team, and a clear "Thank you".
This should come once the song has finished, not as the outro is playing. Stay in the song until it's finished.
Remember to try and have FUN. We want to see you shine!
Mistakes will happen, don't let it shake you. If you can pick it back up and keep going, that's great! If we need to start over, let us know and we can do that too.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
