Started in 1999, World Smile Day takes place on the first Friday of October. It honors the commercial artist, Harvey Ball. This day came about as a response to his creation of the smiley face! World Smile Day intends to reclaim the original meaning behind the smiley face, people are encouraged to act kindly, smile, and, spread positivity around them. :)
