Promoting Research
How to Promote Research at your Practice
Promoting research is crucial, not only in encouraging more people to take part in research but also in communicating our successes to the wider public and further engaging them with the process and impact of research
Examples of ways to promote research within your practice:
Practice website - A website template is available and practices can ‘pick and choose’ sections from the Practice Website Guidance Document for use on their practice website.
Posters - display these on practice notice boards in waiting rooms and corridors (see below).
Leaflets - in waiting rooms and/or on reception desk areas, see below regarding obtaining a supply of leaflets for your practice.
Template slides displayed via electronic screens (if available) - in patient waiting areas. Information is available from the CRN East of England Hub Home website.
Research champions on the Patient Participation Group (PPG) - to ensure that research is on their meeting agenda at least once annually.
Patient Experience Questionnaire - invite patients to complete a research for studies. Reports on the findings can be found on the PPIE website.
Practice specific 'information sheet about research appointments’ - send out to patients in order to help provide practical information to those patients invited to take part in research studies. Details will include: flexible appointments, car parking facilities, longer appointment time etc. or as appropriate for your practice.
A statement in the footer of practice headed paper and/or prescriptions - to inform that you are a research active practice.
