Greetings Bobcats,
It is hard to believe that we are facing the final few days of the school year. We are certainly going to miss our Bobcats over the summer. This especially holds true for our 6th graders who are headed off to the middle school next year. Today, we honored our 6th graders, and their time here at Spring Forge Intermediate, with our 6th grade recognition assembly and 6th grade Fun Fest. We wish you all of the best. This week was jam packed with special events and trips. Our students headed to Hickory Falls for their Accelerated Reader Trip, our 4th graders visited the state capitol and our 6th graders had their field trip to Keystone Kids Space. Please see the calendar below for upcoming events.
Pick-Up Reminder From The School Nurse: Unless your child has current permission to self-carry their medication, the school cannot allow your child to bring the medication home themselves. Please make arrangements with the School Nurse to pick up your child's medication. Medications not picked up by May 30, 2024 will be discarded.
Middle School Athletics: We are looking for middle school cross country athletes!! If you don't have a sport or you want to get in shape for your sport (basketball, wrestling...); this is the opportunity for you! We provide for a wide range of abilities and competitive levels. Next week, (May 27-29) Coach Peters will be stopping in during 6th grade lunches to provide information and/or a sign up sheet for middle school cross country. Please be sure your child knows your contact info. SIGN UP for this great opportunity!
We have pre-season practices beginning July 1st, that are optional, yet strongly encouraged! They are at the following locations and times:
Mondays John Rudy Park - 6:00 PM
Wednesday Crist Field - 8:00 AM
Friday Susquehanna Riverlands - 8:00 AM
We are looking forward to a season of fun and growth!! Let's go, Bobcats!!

SFI PTO Information:
Apex Color Run: We are waiting for 1 last deposit of uncollected pledges but our total thus far-$17,600.18 raised! We have a follow-up meeting soon and will be rebooking for October. Christina N. in Mrs. Miller's class was our highest earner at $51.07/lap. She has her choice of a fantastic prize from Apex. All of the kids had a blast and the money raised will pay for some fun additions to our school to be used for TRACKS bashes and PTO events.
Tissue Drive: We collected 212 boxes of tissues which is a great start to next year's needs. Mrs. Nissley's class brought in 72! Though not a contest, they were treated to lollipops. Every SFI student will receive a paw print tattoo as a thank you for their efforts!
Thank you: Many thanks to all of the volunteers and donors throughout the school year, most recently our ice cream social helpers!
LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT YEAR:
At our last PTO meeting of the year we discussed how to make the best use of the PTO. This means not only making the best use of our funds but of our presence and most importantly the volunteers’ time and efforts.
We have chosen a mix of activities to schedule for the 2024/2025 school year including fundraisers to support field trips, student activities, family events, and staff support. We are looking for people to take on the organizing and execution of these specific planned activities to split the responsibility.
General overview (subject to change):
Fundraisers-Apex, a definite (October); Butterbraids, a school favorite (sell Nov, deliver Dec.); Popcorn Loft, maybe (sell Jan, deliver Feb), Marianna’s, a family favorite (sell Feb, deliver March for conferences)
Family Events-Back to School Picnic (Sept); Holiday Event (Dec); Movie Night (any time); book bingo (anytime, last year it was in Jan); skate night (Mar, it’s SBI’s turn to organize but we have the funds to do more than one!); ice cream social (May)
Activities- Fall (Nov) and Fun Fest (May) needs requested by TRACKS committee, book fairs (Nov, Feb, May) holiday shop (Dec)
Teacher support- conference meals (Nov & Mar); staff appreciation day/week (May); help Student Senate and AR Committee with needs as requested
We MUST fill these roles for a smooth transition that will allow the events to continue as planned with the fundraisers organized to pay for them. The PTO needs more involvement as a whole, the current PTO President is not available full time at the school. The open roles and their details are being posted on Facebook daily: https://www.facebook.com/groups/springforgeclt/
Please consider taking on a PTO role in the 2024/2025 school year. Questions? Email sfibobcatpto@gmail.com
