Happy Friday Bobcats! Even though it was a short week, it was quite eventful. As you know, students and staff completed our first SRP (Lock Down) drill for the year. A special thank you to our SRO's, Officer Goodman and Officer Brice for participating in the event. Please be sure to check out the important information below regarding our upcoming events and calendar items!
SRP Drill: This week your student may have the experience of going through one of our Standard Response Protocol Drills. This is designed to help ensure that our staff and students are aware of the appropriate actions/steps to keep them safe in the event of an emergency at our school. Prior to the drill occurring, you will receive communication via our Sapphire Portal and once the drill is completed you will also receive notification. As your students are participating in this drill, please understand that access to the school may be limited and will return to normal at the completion of the drill.
Report Cards:
We are excited to inform you about an important change coming to our report cards starting this school year. In an effort to provide more meaningful feedback on your child’s progress, we are transitioning to narrative report cards.
What is a narrative report card?
Unlike traditional report cards that primarily rely on letter grades, a narrative report card provides a personalized summary of your child’s learning experience. This format allows us to share specific observations about your child’s strengths, areas for growth, and overall development in key academic and social-emotional areas.
Why are we making this change?
We believe that narrative report cards offer several key benefits:
Consistency - The same score ranges for K-6; below grade level expectation, meets grade level expectation, or exceeds grade level expectation.
Communication - Simplified language to better explain your child’s progress, whether your child is meeting, exceeding, or working towards those expectations.
Personalized feedback - Each child’s learning journey is unique. The narrative format allows teachers to address your child’s specific needs, challenges, and successes.
We hope that you will find this new format valuable in understanding your child’s progress. Our goal is to strengthen the partnership between home and school, ensuring we are working together to support your child’s success.
Your child’s report card will come home with them on Friday, November 1, and will also be live in your Sapphire portal on the same date.
Halloween Candy/Treats: Just a friendly reminder that outside food and drink should not be brought into the school to share with other children.
Nut Free School: All of our k-6 buildings are designated as nut free schools. Just a reminder, please do not bring peanuts, tree-nuts or products made with peanuts or Tree-Nuts into the school.

All student yearbooks have an option to customize 2 pages. You do not have to do this, but you can if you wish. This gives you a chance to make sure your child's picture gets into the yearbook, and you can include pictures from vacations taken throughout the year. These pages can be customized at any time up to April 9th, so there is plenty of time to get these done. If you have any questions, please email us! We are looking forward to creating this year's yearbook!
