SBI Safety Protocols
The Administration Team wants to thank the Safety Committee for their time and efforts in order to make Shallow Brook Intermediate a safer environment for our students and staff to learn.
After their audit, it was decided to change the protocol of office procedures in order to better meet the safety needs for our building. Here are the primary changes that were recommended by our Safety Committee:
Drop off/Pick up: Parents/guardians dropping off/picking up students will be buzzed into the vestibule to sign the Sign-in/out sheet, please complete it. A staff member will call your student down to be picked up in the vestibule. You can wait in your vehicle or within the vestibule for your student.
Drop off student items: When dropping off student items, you will be buzzed into the vestibule. In order to reduce traffic in the office, we ask that you leave your child’s item on the table. A staff member will call your student to the office to retrieve their item.
Meetings: Parents/guardians coming in for a scheduled meeting will be buzzed into the vestibule. The staff member who you are meeting with, or a member of our office staff will escort you to a conference room or your meeting location.
Volunteers/Chaperones: Members of our Northeastern community who are serving as chaperones or volunteers in our building will sign in with the office staff and have their badges scanned.
Unscheduled Meetings: While our staff and Administrators do their best to make sure we are accessible for our families, unscheduled meetings often create scheduling issues for our Administrators and staff members. Please contact our office staff and they will work to schedule a meeting with our administrators to guarantee we can dedicate time and attention to the reasons for your meeting.
We know these changes may take some time to get used to, but we are thankful for our Safety Committee’s focus on building security and certain that these changes will help make Shallow Brook Intermediate a safer school. We know that our families will help us to make our school safer, and we thank you in advance for your cooperation with this initiative. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our administrative team
